We at Porters’ Pub & Restaurant frequently get compliments about our staff, and rightly so. They are a well trained, friendly, hard working bunch. There are many reasons for this, but there is one where I like to think we do better than most. We encourage our employees to travel, whether it’s back home for a weekend to see family or to go halfway around the world on a great adventure for months at a time. As long as we can adequately staff the restaurant during their absence, why not give our employees the freedom and opportunity they deserve? While other employers might frown on this policy, making their employees stick to strict scheduling rules and only allowing limited time off, we believe those ideas are counter-productive. We think our staff is happier when they have the freedom to travel and enjoy new experiences. When they come back to work they come back refreshed, with interesting stories to tell and a broader perspective of the world. Travel on my friends.

Porters' Pub in Easton describes itself on it’s website as a “quintessential Old World Pub” and this does ring true in more ways than one.
Upon entry to the pub, friendly staff greets you. Chalk written menus line the walls with beer and food specials, along with colorful art to brighten the stone walls. The music is not overpowering, promoting quiet conversation and ambiance. With a quick look around, it is more than easy to settle in underneath the mugs between the stone walls to a dining experience enjoyable to most palates.
Other than the décor, the first noteworthy thing about Porters' is the beer list. I honestly don’t know if I can count high enough to tell you how many beers they have listed. If you need to know or brag to your friends (which you should), the servers are more than helpful.
I am far from a beer enthusiast, but the descriptions even had me willing to crack open a Wells Banana Bread Ale toward the end of my meal.
Easton Restaurant Week is always a stomach filling experience. Porters' Pub did not leave me wanting.
The Restaurant Week menu contains a choice of two appetizers, homemade soup or salad, and about five different entrees and two desserts. With a perfectly poured Guinness, my partner and I delved into our meals.
The spinach and mushroom bruschetta was melt in your mouth divinity. There is no other way to describe it. Served over crusty bread and some greens, the smoked gouda béchamel held the spinach and mushrooms together in creamy gooey goodness. The chicken corn chowder is deliciously thick. I don’t know if there is a technical term for the spoon test, but once finished with my chowder, scooped my spoon through the remains and there were no runny remains, only thick creamy not overly salty chowder. I didn’t even need the saltines, which is unheard of for me. I usually use about five packs for a cup of soup.
The potatoes were still crunchy and starchy which seems to lead to the soup either being very fresh, or the potatoes were just undercooked, however, they added a textural enhancement to the chowder.
The steak and latkes were topped in an apple cranberry compote. The compote added some spice to the perfectly seared steak. It really had some unexpected kick, which complimented the sweetness of the apple and the savory full flavor of the NY Strip.
Dessert consisted of a Wells Banana Bread Ale and the Irish Car Bomb Cheesecake Square. No matter which dessert you go with, get the Wells Banana Bread Ale, I cannot stress the enough. The cheesecake was firm, and sweet.
I finished off with the Banana Bread Ale, the meal was complete.
Overall, Porter’s Pub is exactly all that it boasts. The beer list is phenomenal.
And the food menu can hold it’s own against that which is no easy feat. If you’re going either for beer or fulfilling, comforting pub food, you are in the right place.

FOR MOST BEER LOVERS AROUND THE GLOBE BELGIUM IS A MECCA FOR BEER. AND AS A DEVOUT BEER ENTHUSIAST, ONE MUST MAKE A PILGRIMAGE AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME TO VISIT THE SOURCE OF ALL THINGS BEER. FROM THE SELECTION OF THE FINEST INGREDIENTS RIGHT DOWN TO THE POUR IN PROPER GLASSWARE, BELGIANS STICK TO THEIR TRADITIONS. IN FACT, THEY ARE SO PROUD OF THEIR BEERS, THEY IMPORT VERY LITTLE. EVEN SO, THEY LOVE AMERICAN BREWS AND THE ULTIMATE BEER TOUR SHOWS YOU HOW TO BARTER AMERICAN BREWS FOR THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE THE PROUD BELGIAN BREWING HERITAGE AND MAYBE GET A PEEK BEHIND THE CURTAIN.
BEER AFICIONADOS IN BELGIUM ARE VERY INTERESTED IN WHAT WE’VE GOT BREWING HERE IN THE STATES. BECAUSE OF OUR COUNTRY’S SIZE, WE HAVE THOUSANDS OF SMALL CRAFT BREWERIES EXPERIMENTING AND BLURRING THE LINES BETWEEN TRADITIONAL STYLES AND USING INGREDIENTS IN NEW WAYS TO COME UP SOME TRULY AMAZING WORLD CLASS BEERS. MOST OF THESE SMALL BREWERIES DON’T EXPORT, WHICH MAKES MANY TOP-RATED, AWARD-WINNING BEERS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IN THE EU. EVEN IF THEY DID EXPORT, BY THE TIME A BEER HAS MADE ITS WAY ACROSS THE ATLANTIC, THE HOPS HAVE FADED AND THE TASTE JUST ISN’T THE SAME.

The Chris Cummings Standards Trio is a jazz trio led by drummer, Chris Cummings, that performs modern interpretations of jazz standards from every era.
Very much a modern band, the trio is dedicated to honoring the jazz canon without living in the past. Each performance of each piece is an exploration of the moment with stylings that could be compared to Jarrett, Evans, Corea, or Bley.
Join us on December 1, 15, 22, and 30th.
