Some of Our Favorite Easton Friends

We love to think of Porters’ Pub as a place for friends to come gather, relax, and have some fun. That being said, Porters’ isn’t the only place in our beloved city of Easton that we spend our time! We wanted to share a few of our other favorite Easton spots that make us happy to live, work, and play in the city.

Connexions Gallery

From open mics to Drink ‘n Draw sessions, Connexions is much more than an art gallery just off the circle in downtown Easton.

Besides, Fredo the Cat lives there and he may be the coolest pet in the whole city.

Suddenly Samantha

Another place that is way way much more than what it’s title would seem. Suddenly Samantha, owned by Stephen Flowers, is one of the best salons in the area. But, it’s what goes on there on days off (when Stephen cuts hair for the homeless) and during various charity events that makes this one of our favorites.

Mercantile Home

Pretty sure there aren’t many other places we go to buy items for our homes. Mercantile Home uses new, organic, and recycled materials for their various designs. Plus, it’s always buzzing. There are events, classes, and more.

Easton Yoga

Sure, we could use a nice craft beer to unwind, but Easton Yoga would be our next (and maybe first, actually) choice. They offer kids, adult, and senior Yoga classes for all levels. We’re already relaxed thinking about them.

Third & Ferry Fish Market

When we’re not enjoying our own fresh local foods at Porters’, you can find us at Third and Ferry in Easton. The. Freshest. Seafood.

The Quadrant Book House and Coffee Mart

If you haven’t noticed, some of our favorite spots in Easton are places where the community can get together. The Quadrant is one of the most well-known and, in an age of instant gratification, it’s nice to know that there are still places that have the feel and smell of a good book.

We've shown you some of our favorite Easton spots, but there are many more. We'll get to them soon. What are yours?

Our Travel Policy

We at Porters’ Pub & Restaurant frequently get compliments about our staff, and rightly so. They are a well trained, friendly, hard working bunch. There are many reasons for this, but there is one where I like to think we do better than most.

We encourage our employees to travel, whether it’s back home for a weekend to see family or to go halfway around the world on a great adventure for months at a time. As long as we can adequately staff the restaurant during their absence, why not give our employees the freedom and opportunity they deserve?

While other employers might frown on this policy, making their employees stick to strict scheduling rules and only allowing limited time off, we believe those ideas are counter-productive. We  think our staff is happier when they have the freedom to travel and enjoy new experiences. When they come back to work they come back refreshed, with interesting stories to tell and a broader perspective of the world. Travel on my friends.

A Porters' Pub Restaurant Week Experience

Porters' Pub in Easton describes itself on it’s website as a “quintessential Old World Pub” and this does ring true in more ways than one.

Upon entry to the pub, friendly staff greets you. Chalk written menus line the walls with beer and food specials, along with colorful art to brighten the stone walls. The music is not overpowering, promoting quiet conversation and ambiance. With a quick look around, it is more than easy to settle in underneath the mugs between the stone walls to a dining experience enjoyable to most palates.

Other than the décor, the first noteworthy thing about Porters' is the beer list. I honestly don’t know if I can count high enough to tell you how many beers they have listed. If you need to know or brag to your friends (which you should), the servers are more than helpful.

I am far from a beer enthusiast, but the descriptions even had me willing to crack open a Wells Banana Bread Ale toward the end of my meal.

Easton Restaurant Week is always a stomach filling experience. Porters' Pub did not leave me wanting.

The Restaurant Week menu contains a choice of two appetizers, homemade soup or salad, and about five different entrees and two desserts. With a perfectly poured Guinness, my partner and I delved into our meals.

The spinach and mushroom bruschetta was melt in your mouth divinity. There is no other way to describe it. Served over crusty bread and some greens, the smoked gouda béchamel held the spinach and mushrooms together in creamy gooey goodness. The chicken corn chowder is deliciously thick. I don’t know if there is a technical term for the spoon test, but once finished with my chowder,  scooped my spoon through the remains and there were no runny remains, only thick creamy not overly salty chowder. I didn’t even need the saltines, which is unheard of for me. I usually use about five packs for a cup of soup.

The potatoes were still crunchy and starchy which seems to lead to the soup either being very fresh, or the potatoes were just undercooked, however, they added a textural enhancement to the chowder.

The steak and latkes were topped in an apple cranberry compote. The compote added some spice to the perfectly seared steak. It really had some unexpected kick, which complimented the sweetness of the apple and the savory full flavor of the NY Strip.

Dessert consisted of a Wells Banana Bread Ale and the Irish Car Bomb Cheesecake Square. No matter which dessert you go with, get the Wells Banana Bread Ale, I cannot stress the enough. The cheesecake was firm, and sweet.

I finished off with the Banana Bread Ale, the meal was complete.

Overall, Porter’s Pub is exactly all that it boasts. The beer list is phenomenal.

And the food menu can hold it’s own against that which is no easy feat. If you’re going either for beer or fulfilling, comforting pub food, you are in the right place.

“Eat, Drink, and Be Merry”

Porters’ Pub in Easton has been doing “pub crawls” to Europe for 18 years now, and they’ve been so successful we’ve spun off our own travel company, Porterra Travel. Our old Pub Crawls aren’t all about drinking (although I guess that depends on who you ask), but they are all about fun. Join us for an epic week in Prague and see for yourself.

From our hotel you’ll be walking distance to all the major sites the UNESCO World Heritage city core has to offer. The Castle, the cathedral, winding cobblestone streets and alleys, St Charles bridge over the Vltava river, the medieval Astronomical clock tower on the main square and more.

$1799 includes direct non-stop flights,  all air taxes and fuel surcharges, airport transfers in Prague, seven nights  in the highly rated four star Majestic Plaza Hotel, breakfasts daily, a half day tour of Prague on arrival and a pre departure meeting and orientation before we go.

Click here to reserve your space or learn more.

Farther afield we’ll offer optional trips to some of the many castles that dot the countryside, the curiosity of the Bone Church in Kutna Hora, and of course a trip to Pilsen to tour the world famous Pilsner Urquell Brewery.

Our trips are very laid back and friendly, perfect for the first time traveler or the seasoned independent minded explorer. You get the security, peace of mind and camaraderie of traveling with a group and knowing that all the details have been taken care of, but you also get the flexibility of going off and doing your own thing. Our hotel becomes a home base for exploring the countryside and a meeting place to catch up and compare notes with your new found traveling friends.

Hurry, space is limited and time is running out. Deadline to sign up is Feb 5. Click here for more details.
